Price Cutter Charity Championship officials are targeting an $800,000 fundraising goal to benefit 46 Ozarks charities.

The goal for the Aug. 4-14 tournament at Highland Springs Country Club is lower than last year's total of $900,145, said Marty Willadsen, executive vice president of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. The number of charities is roughly flat.

Officials said this year’s tournament will cost $2.4 million, with $624,000 still needed to meet budget. Events profits will be distributed among the charities.

"We feel pretty good about where we are, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal,” PCCC Executive Director Jerald Andrews said this morning during the tournament's media day event.

The event raises money through corporate sponsorships, pro-am tournaments at area courses and ticket sales. The tournament has raised nearly $14 million during its 28-year history. New charities added to the event this year are Down Syndrome Group of the Ozarks and the Whetstone Boys Ranch.

This year’s theme developed by advertising agency Schilling/Sellmeyer & Associates Inc. is United We Stand For Kids. Military personnel, law enforcement and first responders — along with their families — will receive free admission, food and access to a covered skybox.
