Unbelievabubble Soccer
Edmond McClure
on Aug. 2 opened Unbelievabubble Soccer, a mobile business that provides equipment for bubble soccer game rentals. McClure describes the game, which originated in Norway as “boblefotball,” as a cross between traditional soccer and bumper cars, in which players wear protective PVC bubbles while playing. McClure, who works as an account executive for Woodland Hills, Calif.-based software firm Planetbids Inc., said startup costs exceeded $10,000, mostly for equipment purchased from Topeka, Kan.-based Kansas Bubble Soccer LLC. Group rental rates range from $150 to $350 for up to two hours of play. Individuals also can try out the sport in an open play setting for $10 per person. A state-certified soccer referee with 40 years of playing and coaching experience, including a sideline stint at Baptist Bible College, McClure serves as referee for the games. He said Unbelievabubble Soccer has an agreement for access to fields at Lake Country Soccer Complex for $50 for a 90-minute rental. Hours: By appointment. Phone: (417) 894-6263.
