Japanese restaurant opening in Chesterfield Village

Posted online
One of the business partners behind Hula Hawaiian Kitchen is opening a Japanese restaurant in Chesterfield Village.

Stephanie Liu and her boyfriend, who she declined to name, are targeting a June 26 opening for Omo Japanese Soul Food at 2101 W. Chesterfield Blvd., Ste. B-102.  A May 9 secretary of state filing for Omo Japanese Soul Food lists Liu and Hong Jung as organizers.

Noting omo translates to the equivalent of chief main gourmet, Liu said the restaurant would specialize in ramen dishes.

“In their culture, they treat their ramen as their soul food,” she said. “It’s Japanese style, like real Japanese noodles.”

Liu signed a lease for roughly 1,300 square feet with Chesterfield Village creator Dearborn Development Inc. for undisclosed terms. She said the shop would have two to three employees.

Liu launched her other restaurant in town, Hula Hawaiian Kitchen, in December with business partner Finnet Falig in the Southgate Shopping Center, 1730 E. Republic Road.

Half Crocked Chef formerly operated at the space in Chesterfield Village before a move to Farmers Park. It also previously housed Enoch’s BBQ & Southern Classics.
