The St. Louis County Council has firmly killed off a proposal to increase the county’s minimum wage to $15 within five years.
Councilwoman Hazel Erby, D-University City, the bill's sponsor, failed to get a "second" from any of her four colleagues when attempting to bring up the measure for discussion, according to St. Louis Public Radio.
Opponents' chief argument? The county cannot legally dictate a minimum wage for the 90 municipalities that cover most the its territory.
