Legacy Bagelry & Bakery LLC
After launching with The Mighty Bagel food cart downtown in August 2012, Kyle and Bethany Gerecke moved into Fremont Center retail space Oct. 26. The husband-and-wife business partners are operating under Legacy Bagelry & Bakery LLC at 3049 S. Fremont Ave., where they’ve leased 1,600 square feet to produce bagels for wholesale and retail sales. The Gereckes started The Mighty Bagel food cart three years ago in Cape Girardeau and have built a following in Springfield largely through selling at Farmers Market of the Ozarks. In January, they added wholesale clients and now serve roughly 15 businesses, including Mudhouse, Brown Egg and the cafe at Bass Pro Shops, as well as multipacks at Homegrown Food and MaMa Jean’s. Menu items include individual boiled bagels for $1.20, a baker’s dozen with house cream cheese for $18.50 and bagel sandwiches $3.50 to $7. Legacy Bagelry signed a one-year lease with options for $2,000 a month, Bethany Gerecke said. Hours: 6:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 501-1345.

Heroes Coffee Co.
Heroes Coffee Co. licensees Dustin and Katie Jackson added cafes inside two Springfield Wal-Mart Supercenters. Heroes Coffee opened at the East Independence Street store Oct. 21 and on South Campbell Avenue Oct. 22, according to Katie Jackson. The cafes employ about 14, she said. Earlier this year, the Jacksons launched a Heroes Coffee kiosk inside Springfield-Branson National Airport. The Springfield-based small-batch coffee roaster owned by Tim and Amy Ferguson relocated its corporate headquarters and a coffeehouse downtown last year and recently added a Minnesota location inside a SuperValue store. Lease terms for the roughly 300-square-foot Heroes Coffee shops inside Wal-Mart were not disclosed. Hours: 6:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m. daily. Phone: (417) 224-6242. Web: HeroesCoffeeCompany.com

Sherwin-Williams Co.
On Sept. 23, Sherwin-Williams Co. (NYSE: SHW) opened its first store in Nixa and its ninth in southwest Missouri. Frank Argiso, who transferred from the South Campbell Avenue store to manage the Nixa branch, said the 147-year-old Cleveland-based company remodeled the former Movie Gallery video store at 505 W. Mount Vernon St., Ste. B. Selling retail and wholesale paint and accessories, Sherwin-Williams employs four at the 4,000-square-foot Nixa store. Argiso said the company leases the building from Pizza Ventures Inc. Among Sherwin-Williams’ roughly 3,500 paint stores nationwide are three in Springfield, one each in Hollister, Monett and Lebanon, and three in the Joplin market. Sherwin-Williams grew sales 9 percent in 2012 to $9.53 billion, according to public filings, and Argiso said the international company is opening 50 stores a year. Hours: 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 725-2362. Web: Sherwin-Williams.com
