Fox News: GOP House candidate 'body slams' reporter

Posted online
A Fox News team yesterday witnessed Montana Republican Greg Gianforte assault a reporter from The Guardian.

During an interview ahead of a volunteer barbecue, Ben Jacobs of The Guardian walked into the room with a voice recorder and began asking Gianforte questions about the American Health Care Act. Gianforte  said he would get to the question later and then referred them to his press secretary.

Alicia Acuna, Faith Mangan and Keith Railey of Fox News then watched the proceedings turn ugly.

"At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him," Acuna wrote in a Fox News article. "Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, 'I'm sick and tired of this!'"

The Republican candidate in the closely watched race for Montana’s House seat later was cited for  misdemeanor assault just hours before polls were scheduled to open.
