Disney halts sales of costume after racism claims

Disney halted sales of a costume inspired by its upcoming film "Moana" after claims of racism.

The costume is based on Disney's animated depiction of Maui, a key figure in Polynesian oral tradition. Opponents took issue with the costume's long-sleeve shirt covered in fake tattoos.

In Polynesian culture, traditional tattoos are said to be imbued with deep meaning.
