Bonnie Baha, an investment manager and top lieutenant to Los Angeles bond king Jeffrey Gundlach, died Sunday after being hit by a car in Virginia. She was 56.
Baha was among high-ranking managers who left Los Angeles investment firm TCW in 2010 to join Gundlach at DoubleLine Capital.
Among her keen advice was ridding investments in Wall Street firm Lehman brothers weeks before the failed investment bank filed for bankruptcy in 2008.
Along with her family, Baha was crossing the street near a shopping mall when they were hit by a driver making a left turn. Baha’s daughter and husband suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. The family was in Charlottesville, Va., over the weekend dropping off son Ayman, who is starting college at University of Virginia.
