A Springfield axe-throwing business that got its start in 2018 is closing its doors.
TommyHawks Axe House announced its closure plans in a March 1 Facebook post. The 1631 W. College St. venture's last day is scheduled March 30.
The post did not give a reason for the closure.
"We’ve seen thousands of locals and out-of-state patrons, held numerous large-scale tournaments, hosted countless leagues, and we’ve created memories to last a lifetime," the post reads. “We are so thankful for each individual that has supported this endeavor from day one and the many who continue to come through our doors each week."
Founders Tommy and Kacey Jennings could not be reached for additional comment by deadline.
They started the business in March 2018, leasing 12,000 square feet across the street from Route 66 Car Museum, according to past reporting.
Plaza Shopping Center gained an arcade with the March 1 opening of The Flying Lap LLC; the repurposing of space operated by Burrell Behavioral Health resulted in the March 18 opening of the company’s second autism center; and a group of downtown business owners teamed up to reopen J.O.B. Public House.
