Kansas City-based UMB Financial Corp., the parent company of UMB Bank, is in talks to buy rival Heartland Financial USA Inc., people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
A deal could be announced within weeks, the sources said.
A deal between the companies would mark the largest U.S. regional bank merger this year.
